That verse is etched in the building on the grounds of my old summer camp - Camp Mont Shenandoah . It is also a rather overused quotation at my college, Hollins University.
Those 2 places mean a lot to me because of the relationships I forged. There is a lesson in why friends matter as much as grades and accomplishments and places you've been. I see this Psalms verse and I think of my friends.
But this time lifting my eyes to the hills carries more meaning than ever. If you want to walk a steep hill, you need your friends to make it tolerable. Literally. Physically.
Check out this new study I am reposting (thanks to the Daily Dish) from a couple of University of Virginia professors. Apparently it's not a myth, friendship is a really undervalued asset in life.
And yet friends get tabled often, for work, for romance, for travel, for money (or lack thereof), for volunteer obligations. Interesting how that works.
